Dear Family, Friends and Loved Ones~
This is the first post on our new blog spot that will serve to connect us all as we celebrate our beloved Christine Marion Kelly Smith and help her on her journey. We ask that you help us to forward this blogspot to all who wish to know of Christine's progress.
We are seeking any photos for a picture tribute to our incredibly strong and loving and vibrant Christine. Any notes or sentiments you would like to share with Chris can be shared here. We will keep her posted on all well wishes that come through to her as they will surely bring her radiant smile and will please her greatly.
She continues to remain strong in spirit and is loving and nurturing to all who visit. She has blessed us all by letting us know that she is ready to join her sister, Mary Elizabeth, and her Mother, Johanne M. Kelly. She is mostly very comfortable now that she is at St. Anthony's Hospice House in South St. Louis County. This hospice home is truly staffed by angels and is a surprisingly wonderful place. Now that Chris is more comfortable, we can all focus on enjoying every moment we have with her.
Please know that Michael, June, Elizabeth, Warren and Christine's entire family, and of course Christine herself, are all very grateful for the outstanding show of support and love surrounding us at this time. Please also know that Christine's smiles are radiant and fortifying and she is generous with them!
Love to all~

Your mom has been an 'always' source of optimism and confidence for me since we moved to St. Louis... Our littler kids and I called her the 'smiley, red lip Chris'.
Even when you all were out on the East coast, I knew it was people like her that 'had it'. She deep down knew why God placed her here to be with all of you, and that she would return to Him with nothing to hide.
She fought the good fight with laughter, alot of wise cracks and IMMENSE common sense. She didn't waste her time with pessimists or disgruntled folks, and she was always pushing through the obstacles...hers and everyone elses.
"Get Oover it!", "So, what can y'do? Move on..." And she helped you to DO that moving on with again, her IMMENSE common sense.
Swearing was her unique way of putting you completely at ease and keepin' it real. I absolutely see that in you kids. Not the swearing so much, but the realness. She. Told. The. Truth.
God, Who's not going to miss Chris.

Chris was always kind to Jessica whenever Joyce visited St. Louis. Joyce first met Chris through Nina and Kathleen. Jessica is autistic and Chris would always take time to make her feel welcome. Every time she saw Jessica she gave her something. Jess still has every one of those keepsakes. Once Chris took the time to make Jess a pizza. On another occasion she and Jess curled up on the couch together to watch whatever Jess wanted to watch on TV. That's just the kind of person Chris was. We will always remember her as the kind and considerate soul she will always be.

Chris is a fantastic woman. I will miss her smile so much. Thankful her 3 children have a lot of Chris' charm that comes across whenever you talk with them. Whenever I go to the Botanical Gardens, I will think of Chris and laugh.

Chris made me live a better life while she was gravitized (i.e., walking the earth with us) and now, in her non-gravitized :)state, she is still helping me live a better life.
I totally agree with Laurie's posting/comment: Who's not going to miss Chris?
I did not know Chris well, but was lucky enough to share Parents Weekend with her at URI with Liz and my daughter, Meredith.
Chris was warm, honest, full of fun and so easy to like and feel connected to.
Most important though, that weekend, Liz , mom let me know how much she loved you and your family. Hold that love close to you during this very difficult time and may it give you comfort and strength.
My heart goes out to all of you.
Love,
Sheila

Chris was probably the most irreverent and joyful person I’ve known. When I think of her, the image that comes to mind is of her saying something saucy from the side of her mouth, followed by wide, whole-mouth laughter.
Along with the irreverence, though, Chris was also deeply pious. By pious, I mean more than just religious observation, though there surely was that. She brought a deep piety to her devotion to her family as well.
Christine also possessed an indomitability of spirit. I have no specific anecdotes for this. My observation is based more generally on the fact that from moves from one city to another, and then back home, through difficult times, the death of her mother, and then her sister, Christine never seemed slowed, never beaten, never repressed.
Even for the strongest among us, and I include Chris here, I suppose it’s too much to expect them to survive cancer through sheer force of will. But it’s sufficient that before she succumbed, Christine left her mark on the world and touched all of our lives.
Christine, thank you for your joy, humor, and irrepressible personality. Godspeed now that your journey is over.
I knew Chris as a part of a great family which I got to know about 10 years ago. I remember Chris as a thoughtful person and a good mom. I know Mike well and June, Elizabeth, and Warren are a testament to Chris and Mike as parents. I met several members of the Kelly family for the first time Saturday. God Bless you all. Love, Brady Neukam
